Happy Friday everyone!
I guess this week is more of a status report than anything new. I do need to update the features page on the website at some point, and I may do that this weekend after I push out the next beta build. I want to remind beta testers to please provide any feedback about your beta experience on the DedalusTech MBF Beta forums.
From the user feedback I have received thus far, most of the MBF skills are a great success. There is some tweaking I need to do with a couple of them to fix bugs and token costs, but for the most part I feel the skills are moderately balanced. I still need to finish coding the last few level tiers of skills, and I'll try to tweak the older ones to make them more appealing and useful.
The other major problem I am running into deals with our server. I've been writing scripts that communicate well with our server, but our parser doesn't agree with the preference file data. It's unable to parse certain lines of code and upload them to the leaderboards. I'll play with that code later this week, again after I push out another beta build.
Along the lines of server scripts, the Chat system hasn't improved a whole lot. HiGuy and I sat down for a few hours the other night and were able to parse the incoming lines of chatter from the server, but were unable to successfully pull the username at the same time. HiGuy claims to have fixed this issue, but I will need to sit down with him later this week and work on the chat system some more. I still need to build the in-game chat client as well with Marble Blast Fubar chat commands, such as /edit to pop open the level editor, or /quit to exit the game quickly while retaining your preference files.
So, there's a handful of side-work that's slowly coming together. I'll probably start throwing new screenshots on the features page at some point this week, so keep your eyes open for those. More Beta invites should go out later in July if the server-side coding is functioning. Other than that, there's not much else to report...yet.
